Why your business should be using version control

In this week's webchat, Tristan and Ryan discuss the importance of version control and how your business could be using version control to help you keep track of your file history.

Version control keeps track of a file or document's history, which is great because:

  • It gives you the ability to view and restore previous versions of documents. This is an excellent way to see how the information on the document has changed over time and lets you restore older versions if there is a mistake.
  • Allows you to see who made each change, making it great for accountability and auditing purposes.
  • Gives the ability for several people to work collaboratively on the same document at the same time.

Version control isn't something difficult to implement or only used by tech experts, you may even be using a document that uses version control already. Google Drive, OneDrive, Office 365 are just some of the programs that already use version control, so be sure to make the most of it!
